Food Review: Greenhouse Restaurant at Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore

Lunch in a spacious tranquil hidden restaurant tucked away in outdoor greenery that will make you feel like you are overseas - in Thailand.

Tranquil hidden restaurant tucked away in outdoor greenery that will make you feel like you are overseas - in Thailand.

With leisure travel out of the question at this moment, the craving to unwind and escape the hustle and bustle of our city life is perhaps even more conspicuous.

Every now and then, I find myself looking for restaurants and cafes with vacay vibes to trick my mind into thinking that I am not in Singapore; and, I am picky - the restaurant must have a great theme, served up authentic cuisine created by native Chef, and most importantly, spacious, as after all, for a relaxing “getaway” and in times like these, we would want to avoid the crowd.

I am glad that Greenhouse at Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore fits all that, plus an added bonus of its secluded location nestled within the grounds of the award-winning Laguna National Golf & Country Club.

Seated by the glass windows in midst of the lovely forest-themed interior lined with potted plants, viewing the beautiful panoramic scenery of the Masters Course with warm rays of the afternoon sun beaming down on our faces from the airy two-storey glass dome, Greenhouse shouts Instagramable holiday vibes everywhere you look; and what we love the most is the ample personal space between diners.

The restaurant features five show kitchens, serving an exciting line-up of multi-ethnic cuisines from Thai delicacies, Japanese culinary art, traditional Indian Tandoor, Mediterranean dishes, to Chinese specialties.

With wellness at the core of the resort’s offerings, the menu presents gluten-free options as well as plant-based healthy power foods prepared with ingredients harvested from the resort’s organic farm.

What To Eat?

Lingering in my “Amazing Thailand” vacay mood, we must of course order from the Lanna and Pak Tai Cuisine.

Greenhouse Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore Food Review | Gaeng Kiaow Waan Gai | Singapore Travel and Food Blog

For the main, we had the Gaeng Kiaow Waan Gai ($24), spicy green coconut curry chicken with Thai eggplant served with rice. The spiciness of the dish was surprisingly mild but nevertheless rich and flavourful which goes well with the complimentary bread provided (eating it Singapore-style)!

The Pla Kapong Nueng ($28), steamed barramundi fillet with spicy green chilli, garlic, and lime sauce served with rice, was another main we ordered which fair better than the green curry. The portion was good! The fish meat was thick, chucky, fresh, and succulent; accompanied with the spicy tangy sauce, it was perfect!

Washing down the spiciness of the barramundi, we had a classic Cha Yen Paradise Thai Iced Tea ($8) and their Health and Wellness’s Energiser ($12), a nourishing blend of Banana, Strawberry, and Orange. If you like wholesome bits of fruits within your juice, this drink is for you, though we would prefer less bites for a drink.

Note: They do not serve iced water.
Greenhouse Dusit Thani Laguna Singapore Food Review | Khao Niao Mamuang | Singapore Travel and Food Blog

The Khao Niao Mamuang ($12), Thai mango with sticky rice is unarguably the most popular must-order Thai dessert and this certainly didn’t disappoint. The mango was sweet and juicy. The colourful glutinous rice was fragrant, not overly sweet and each had a different hint of flavour - which we liked the pulut hitam version the most.

Overall, though the price was slightly on the higher side, the food and portion were good .

Note: Lunch and dinner menu differ slightly and breakfast menu is limited to local favourites as well as American and Continental breakfast. Click here for the menus.

After the satisfying lunch, do take a stroll around the impressive property that features a gorgeous summer vibes pool along with picturesque golfscape.

Though less accessible without a car, the off-the-beaten path location of Greenhouse along with its lush overseas ambience works to its advantage of making it a unique dining destination. We are certainly excited to revisit the restaurant again when it opens its buffet dining concept eventually.
